SUMMARY:Members' Workshop: Woodblock Printmaking
DESCRIPTION:In this 5.5 hr workshop\, participants will be introduced to woodblock prints and will create their very own print.  Participants will be introduced to a combination of eastern and western woodblock techniques\, will learn all process of making a woodcuts (drawing of an image\, transferring the image\, carving the block\, and hand printing the blocks).  This exploration of technique will be paired with a lively discussion on the history of printmaking and a show and tell of contemporary prints. Artist BioImin Yeh  creates sculptures\, installations\, downloadable crafts\, and participatory artist-led projects. She is a recipient of a 2012 commission from the San Jose Museum of Art supported by the Irvine Foundation\, 2011 San Francisco Arts Commission Individual Artist Grant\, a 2010 Irvine Fellowship at the Sally and Don Lucas Artist Residency at Montalvo Art Center and awarded a  2 x 2 Solos exhibition at ProArts Gallery in 2010.  She received a 2009 Barclay Simpson MFA Award (2009)\, the San Francisco Foundation's Murphy and Cadogan Fellowship (2008) and the Yozo Hamaguchi Endowed Scholarship in 2007. She has had recent residencies at Blue Mountain Center (NY)\, Montalvo Art Center (CA) and Mission Grafica (CA).  She has exhibited nationally and internationally and has had shown her work at SFMOMA\, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts\, San Jose Museum of Art\, Incline Gallery\, Southern Exposure\, Meridian Gallery\, Mission Cultural Center\, ProArts Gallery in Oakland\, 18 reasons\, and the San Francisco Arts Commission Gallery. She has an upcoming project at the Zero1 Biennal and at Intersection for the Arts.   She has just finished running year-long fake contemporary art space called SpaceBi (www.spacebi.org) that takes place in the Asian Art Museum\, but she has never exhibited at the Asian Art Museum.   \n______________________________\nThis Event Downloaded From a Helios Calendar Powered Site
