Artists Drawing Club with Ranu Mukherjee

The Procession of Future Artifacts

Mukherjee and students from her studio research lab at California College of the Arts activate the museum with a procession through the collection galleries. Artifacts from the future, created for this ceremony as responses to and translations of particular objects on display, speak with objects from the past about their evident stakes in the present and cross cultural trajectories. A gathering follows.

About The Artists Drawing Club

Each month, this new series invites a local contemporary artist to use the museum as a project platform, drawing inspiration from the institution, to direct a unique experience for the visitor. The Artists Drawing Club provides a new lens to see the museum, its collection, and the world around us through the perspectives of eight contemporary artists.

Mukherjee's studio research lab is part of ENGAGE at CCA, an initiative merging project-based learning with community engagement. For more information, please visit center.cca.edu/engage.

Lead funding for the Asian Art Museum's Artists Drawing Club series is provided by Wells Fargo.
