27th Annual Bell Ringing Ceremony

Led by Reverend Gengo Akiba, the ceremony will include a purification ritual and chanting of the Buddhist Heart Sutra. After Rev. Akiba begins the bell ringing, participants may take turns ringing the museum's sixteenth-century bronze bell to leave behind the bad experiences, wrong deeds, and ill luck of the old year.

Tickets to ring the bell are distributed at the admission desk.
